Man injured in small explosion in Linn County

FAIRFAX — A Palo man was injured in a small explosion northwest of Fairfax on Friday morning, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Carson Moser, 46, was using his work trailer stored at 4303 Morgan Bridge Rd. when he started a generator that backfired and caused nearby flammables to ignite, creating a small explosion.

Moser, who was injured, went to the house on the property to ask for assistance, and the residents called 911 at about 7 a.m.

Emergency responders treated Moser on the scene, and then he was taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, the release stated.

The fire in the trailer was extinguished by the Fairfax Fire Department. No other structures were damaged, according to the sheriff’s news release.
