The Cedar Rapids Fire Department responded Monday evening to a fire in an apartment complex in the southwest Cedar Rapids.
The fire started on the second floor of an apartment building in the 2200 block of Westdale Drive SW a little before 10 p.m. Monday, according to a press release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
The fire was mostly contained to the apartment where it started. Two people were treated on scene. The release does not state whether they were taken to a hospital, or how severe their injuries were.
The fire was under control about 40 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene. Two residents were displaced, and the apartment was left with damage to the interior and exterior walls and the ceiling, the release states.
The cause of the fire still is under investigation.
