NEW HIRES
Spencer Stephens (see photo) has been named commercial and personal lines agent with Sheets Forrest Draper Insurance Agency in Marion. Stephens was previously with Allied Insurance, Des Moines.
The Overture Group, an executive search and replacement firm in Cedar Rapids, hired Chad Melloy (see photo) as its director.
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation hired Michelle Beisker (see photo) as vice president of development, effective June 16. Beisker formerly was director of the PUSH-CR Program at Four Oaks.
Debbie Craig (see photo) has joined Four Oaks as program officer.
Jonathan Chambers (see photo) has joined Family Promise of Linn County as its executive director. Chambers previously served as vice president and president of the board of directors.
Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC, Cedar Rapids, hired Laura Jensen (see photo) as an associate. Jensen previously was with Mayer Brown LLP in Chicago.
Shive-Hattery, an architecture and engineering firm in Cedar Rapids, has hired Aaron Davis (see photo) and Nate Otis (see photo) as architects, Jordan Dreyer (see photo) as project manager, Tim Mroch (see photo) as transportation engineer and Sandy Steil (see photo) as project delivery coordinator.
PROMOTIONS
Miron Construction in Cedar Rapids has promoted Jonathan Daniels (see photo) from project executive and manager to vice president of Iowa operations.
Jason Glass (see photo), chief people officer at Four Oaks, has been promoted to chief quality officer.
Dorice Ramsey (see photo) has been promoted to executive director of the Jane Boyd Community House. Ramsey will continue as director of Wellington Heights programs.
BOARD MEMBERS
Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois has installed new members to its board of directors. Theresa Dunkin (see photo), North Liberty, was elected secretary, and Michel Stone, Cedar Rapids, was elected to the board development committee. Installed as girl representatives were Brenna O'Hara (see photo), Robins, and Kaitlin Zieser (see photo), Lisbon.
Roger Stone (see photo) and Robert Hatala (see photo) of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC, with offices in Cedar Rapids and Coralville, have been appointed to three-year terms on the Iowa State Bar Association's Construction Law Section Council.
KUDOS
J.J. Trotta (see photo), a member of the Sunrise Marion Toastmasters Club, won the District 19 Toastmasters International Speech Contest in Dubuque, representing the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City-Waterloo division. Trotta will represent Iowa this summer at the World Championship of Public Speaking in Malaysia.
Amanda Kaufman (see photo), assistant to the Marion city manager, received the 2014 William B. Hansell Award for Early Career Leadership by the International City/County Manager's Association.
Marion City Manager Lon Pluckhahn (see photo) was accepted into the Senior Executive Institute, a weeklong executive training course offered through the University of Virginia's Darden School of Management.
West Bancorporation, corporate parent of West Bank, Iowa City, was listed No. 15 in America's Top Performing Banks by the American Bankers Association.
Mark Latta (see photo) of Iowa City was elected District 19 Governor for Toastmasters International. Latta will oversee more than 90 Toastmasters clubs in Iowa.
Michael Lahammer (see photo) of Lahammer Law Firm PC received the Excellence in Service Award from the board of directors for Iowa Legal Aid.
UnityPoint Health has been named by Becker's Healthcare as one of 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare. St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids is a senior affiliate of UnityPoint Health.
Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, has been recognized as a 2014 recipient of the Bronze-Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association.
Working Watersheds: Buffers & Beyond, a program coordinated by the Trees Forever organization, has awarded a $2,000 grant to Northeast Iowa Community College, Peosta, and its Outdoor Learning Lab in support of a wetland restoration project.
Mary Gilchrist, former director of the State Hygienic Laboratory at The University of Iowa, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Public Health Laboratories.
