West Overlook Campground in Iowa City has been transformed for the season. Visitors can drive through a mile of animated light displays. It’s open Sundays through Thursdays, 5:30-8:30 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, 5-9 p.m. Admission starts at $10 for a family car or van.

Last Friday was the kick-off of Festive Fridays in downtown Iowa City. The holiday-themed events, sponsored by the Iowa City Downtown District, will run for 4 more Fridays, until Dec. 19. They feature free trolley rides, seasonal entertainment, extended shopping hours and community events.

Downtown Iowa City hosted its first Festive Friday on Friday, November 21, 2025. Festive Fridays will run for five consecutive weeks from 5-8 p.m. on November 21 and 28, and on December 5, 12, and 19.
