A team of students from Robins, near Cedar Rapids, placed ninth at the 2010 National High School Mock Trial Tournament, held May 6-8 in Philadelphia.
The Iowa team also earned the competition's Best Sportsmanship Award. The Robins Mock Trial Team had won the Iowa Mock Trial Championship in April. At the national contest, the Iowa team faced four other states in competition rounds to earn the ninth place trophy. The prestigious Best Sportsmanship Award is presented based on a vote of all state teams in the competition and recognizes the team determined to best represent the principles and spirit of the mock trial program.
Iowa team members are seniors Spencer Hughes, Ame Schultz, Melissa Airy, Paul Esker, Breana Barak, and Scott Goedken; junior Kyle Tietz; and sophomore Ann Glavan. All eight students attend Xavier High School.
Coaches are Tim Semelroth and Emily Anderson.
