DeltaV offering career fair and free classes in community

Despite inflation, labor cost and supply chain snags that stalled the original timeline, a new Steindler North Liberty Ambulatory Surgery Center now is under construction just east of Interstate 380, north of Forevergreen Road – adding to the health care construction boom underway in that community.

“What slavery was really about was separating families, about mutilating humans and even raping their wives. It was just devastating,” Scott, the sole Black Republican in the Senate, told reporters on Thursday after a town hall in Ankeny. “So I would hope that every person in our country — and certainly running for president — would appreciate that.”

Cedar Rapids City Council members voiced concern Wednesday about schools near downtown and on the west side of the city closing under a facility master plan proposed by school leaders. The comments came during a joint meeting of the council and the school board.

Both the Hawkeye and Cyclone athletic programs in the new budget year are anticipating record-breaking revenue — with the University of Iowa predicting a threefold spike in women’s basketball income, pushing it past the $1 million mark for the first time to a projected $1.3 million.

The students in about 300 Linn-Mar families no longer will be eligible for busing to school this fall. A Safe Routes to School plan will be implemented this fall to encourage more students to walk and bike to school.
