Nominations are now open for the Robert E. Yager Active Learning Award from The Iowa Children’s Museum in Coralville. This award, dedicated to the memory of University of Iowa Professor Emeritus, Dr. Robert E. Yager, recognizes outstanding educators who excel in creating dynamic and engaging learning environments for their students.
Active learning is a cornerstone of child development and education. The Iowa Children’s Museum celebrates active learning through this award by celebrating educators committed to fostering a culture of imagination, creativity, discovery, and exploration in the classroom.
Award recipients receive:
- $100 gift card for classroom supplies and needs
- Field trip and museum admission passes to The Iowa Children’s Museum
- Original art print created by a local artist
- Family Day Passes to the museum for the educator’s school/organization
- Recognition at The Iowa Children’s Museum’s annual Celebrate Play Gala
- Parents, students, fellow educators, and community members are encouraged to nominate exceptional teachers, child care providers, or school staff members who champion hands-on learning and inspire children to learn in creative ways.
How to nominate
Visit theicm.org/activelearning to complete a short nomination form. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Dec. 8.
