IOWA CITY - Starting this week, the Iowa City school board will hold meetings to hear what people think about proposed boundary changes.
The events, which the school district dubs 'listening posts” and are not full-fledged board meetings, give community members a chance to share their opinions on what is known as redistricting.
The district spent much of the spring working on boundary scenarios for elementary schools, but the school board told administrators to try again after the proposals included moving many students away from their neighborhood schools.
The listening posts are:
'6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13, North Liberty Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St.
'6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Aug. 20, Coralville Public Library, 1401 Fifth St.
'6:45 - 8:30 p.m. Aug. 28, The Spot, 1030 Cross Park Ave., Iowa City
'6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8, Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St.
