Groundbreaking set for new Cedar Rapids school district offices
The Cedar Rapids Community School District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. Monday at 2418 Edgewood Road NW. The ceremonial event will mark the beginning of construction on the District Services Center. Actual construction on the site is scheduled to begin in mid-July.
When completed in 2012, the new facility will house all district support services including administration, transportation, buildings and grounds, warehouse and purchasing, printing and graphics, and food and nutrition. The building will replace facilities that were extensively damaged by the June 2008 flood.
