Less than three weeks after the announcement of Taft Middle School Principal Gary Hatfield as Iowa's 2014 Middle-Level Principal of the Year, School Administrators of Iowa has honored yet another Cedar Rapids Community School District administrator.
Deputy Superintendent Mary Ellen Maske is 2014's Central Office Administrator of the Year.
Maske is in her first year as the district's deputy superintendent. Before the departure of predecessor Gary O'Malley, who is now the superintendent of the Mount Vernon Community School District, Maske served as Cedar Rapids' associate superintendent.
According to information from School Administrators of Iowa, Maske's peers nominated her for the honor and a committee of Iowa central office administrators selected her to win the award. Maske will be recognized on May 19 during a ceremony in Des Moines.
