Job growth in construction, finance and health care helped pull down Iowa's unemployment rate to 3.6 percent in December.
The number of jobless in the state dropped to 61,200 last month from 65,100 in November, Iowa Workforce Development said on Tuesday.
Overall, the number of working Iowans also fell, to 1.6 million, which is about 4,000 fewer than the month before, the agency said. But the state still reports being up by some 8,200 more jobs annually.
The official unemployment rate does not include those who have stopped looking for work or who have cycled out of the system, among others.
