Cedar Rapids Prairie graduate and former Kirkwood Community College outfielder Levi Usher was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday. Usher has one more season of college eligibility remaining at the University of Louisville but is expected to turn pro.

Brendan Sher entered Iowa baseball’s series opener hitting just .193 with three runs. He went 2-for-3 with two runs and his second home run of the season in a 4-2 victory over Illinois.
