Pat Long's 80th Birthday Open House and Card Shower

Patricia (Hadish) Long is turning 80 years old on April 4! Please help us shower her with love by attending her Open House or sending her a card! Pat was born on April 4, 1944 (4/4/44). She owned a farm on County Home Road near Toddville where she raised six children who went to Toddville and Alburnett Schools. She was also very involved in 4-H and was the leader of the 4-H group, Midway Melodies for many years. She was an organic farmer who raised animals and produce and had a huge garden years before anyone knew what organic farming was. She and her mother, Thelma Hadish, wrote two cookbooks, "Cooking on the Farm", (1973) and "We're Still Cooking on the Farm", (1977) which were sold at area stores, flea markets, and farmers markets. They included recipes from family and friends. She helped organize and found the Marion Farmers Market at Thomas Park. She also worked for years, alongside her husband, Ron Long, at Dealer's Auto Supply on First Street in Cedar Rapids, which was started by her father, Joe Hadish.
