Quarterback Rocco Becht is the most high profile Iowa State player to announce his intent to transfer, but he’s been joined by others in recent days.
On Tuesday, top tailback Carson Hansen and leading receiver Brett Eskildsen said on social media that they’d enter the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2 — joining a growing list of soon-to-be former Cyclones who plan to leave the program in the wake of head coach Matt Campbell’s decision to take the Penn State job.
Wide receiver Xavier Townsend, tight end Gabe Burkle, safety Cam Smith, and oft-injured offensive lineman Deylin Hasert also announced their plans to depart.
Hansen rushed for 19 touchdowns in the past two seasons for ISU. Eskildsen averaged 17.5 yards per catch and caught five touchdown passes last season.
