Iowa State will seek a new offensive coordinator for the second consecutive season.
That’s because Nate Scheelhaase is reportedly moving on after his first season of leading the Cyclones’ offense — and will become the pass game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams according to a social media post by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Scheelhaase, 33, has been hailed by ISU head coach Matt Campbell as “one of the rising stars” in the coaching profession and now the former Illinois quarterback will ascend to the sport’s highest level.
Scheelhaase led a Cyclone offense that ranked seventh nationally in red zone conversions (93.9%) last season after ranking 128th the previous season.
His first-year quarterback, Rocco Becht, broke ISU freshman records for completions (231), passing yards (3,120) and passing touchdowns (23) while earning Big 12 offensive freshman of the year honors.
