Rob Gray — Season openers have been a white-knuckle ride lately for the Cyclones, who lost to Louisiana, 31-14, two years ago and outlasted longtime week 1 nemesis Northern Iowa, 16-10, last season. Good programs get better as the season wears on, though, and that’s been a longtime trend for ISU, which features a new starting quarterback in Hunter Dekkers, a new starting tailback in Jirehl Brock and a slew of other fresh-ish faces on both sides of the ball. The Redhawks, meanwhile, feature some dynamic playmakers on offense, but don’t have the depth to make this another white knuckler for ISU. Iowa State 38, Southeast Missouri State 13
