Iowa State defensive lineman Isaiah Lee leaves the team after being charged in sports gambling probe

AMES — Iowa State senior defensive tackle Isaiah Lee has left the team, an Iowa State athletics spokesperson confirmed Monday.

Lee is one of six Cyclone players known to be facing charges stemming from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s inquiry into sport gambling. The former starter is also the only ISU player currently accused of betting against his own team. He placed a moneyline bet on Texas for a 2021 game ISU won, 30-7.

Lee allegedly placed 21 wagers on 12 games in which he played. Overall, he’s accused of placing 115 bets totaling more than $885. He’s the second Cyclone to leave the program, joining backup offensive lineman Dodge Sauser, who left earlier this month.
