Police are investigating a carjacking late Saturday night in Cedar Rapids that left a woman injured.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said a 21-year-old woman had pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex at 911 Old Marion Rd. NE shortly before midnight when she was approached by two people who demanded her keys. The woman refused and the suspects assaulted her, leaving her with a cut to her right ear, police said.
The suspects took the woman's 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, credit cards and other items from her purse. Police said the woman wasn't sure about the gender of the assailants, but both were dressed in all black clothing, with one in a trench coat.
The woman was taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
