CEDAR RAPIDS — A woman was arrested in Linn County Friday in relation to a Cedar Rapids crash in May that caused a serious injury.
Carol Stull, 53, is charged with driving while barred and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.
A criminal complaint with details about the charges has not been filed as of Friday afternoon, but a search warrant request filed last month states that on May 4, Stull was involved in an accident on Interstate 380 near Wright Brothers Boulevard.
The warrant doesn’t give details about the injury caused by the accident, but states that Stull was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox north on I-380 at about 3:45 a.m. when she hit a car that was stopped in the roadway.
When police arrived, Stull was “acting erratic” and she told them she was diabetic and took various medications, stating she had taken Tramadol — a prescription opioid medication — some hours earlier. She showed signs of impairment while taking a field sobriety test, but a breathalyzer showed her blood alcohol level was zero. The warrant was to take a blood sample from Stull, which was collected on May 8 and sent to a Division of Criminal Investigation lab for chemical testing.
