Woman arrested in CR after child found unconscious in water

CEDAR RAPIDS — A woman has been charged with child endangerment — multiple acts after her child was found unconscious in water at a Motel 6 in Cedar Rapids.

Jjuanna Williams, 25, was arrested after police responded to the motel, at 3325 Southgate Ct. SW, Monday for a report of a child who was not breathing after being found in water, according to a Wednesday news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.

The child, whose age is not mentioned in the release, was transported to a hospital for treatment and later transferred to another hospital because of the severity and number of injuries. The child had multiple facial and chest injuries consistent with child abuse, the release states.

A criminal complaint with more information about the circumstances surrounding the charge was not available Wednesday.
