What Cheer resident dies after being struck by van

A What Cheer resident died after being struck by a minivan Sunday night in the small Keokuk County town, authorities said.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Adam Gragg, 15, of What Cheer, was traveling east on West Washington Street around 9:20 p.m. Sunday when he struck 37-year-old Christine Smith, who was walking east in the street. Smith died from her injuries, authorities said.
Officials have not said if Gragg was driving with a school permit.
No one else was injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
