A Wellman man is accused of robbing and stabbing at a woman in Iowa City with a 'large knife.”
According to an Iowa City Police Department complaint, Charles Edward King, 43, is accused of confronting a female while she was in her vehicle near the 1000 block of N. Summit St. in Iowa City, in the early morning hours of November 10, 2017.
King was allegedly confronting the victim about a new relationship, and eventually pulled her from the vehicle. During the subsequent confrontation, King allegedly pulled a large knife from behind his back and presented it to her, 'slashing and stabbing at her a couple of times.”
According to the complaint, the victim began running when King dropped the knife. King then took the victim's car, and drove off, after retrieving the knife.
The victim said she looked at her waist following the incident and noticed a small cut on her belt line she believed was caused by King.
King has since been arrested and faces one count of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
