Waterloo Police issue warrant for Cedar Rapids man in murder case
Dec. 30, 2014 5:13 pm
WATERLOO - Police have issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for a Cedar Rapids man in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month.
Authorities said 25-year-old James Robert Ernst II, of Cedar Rapids, is wanted for First Degree Murder in the death of Orintheo Campbell, according to a release from the Waterloo Police Department.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Broadway around 1:30 a.m. on December 6 for a report of shots fired. A short time later, Campbell arrived at Allen Hospital in a private vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital.
At a vigil held a few days later, family and friends said Campbell was a father of two and brother to many. At that time, police said they had a person of interest but would not release any other information about the case.
Anyone with information about Ernst's location is asked to call Waterloo Police at 319-291-4340 extension 7 or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-TIPS (8477). A $1,0000 reward is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
