Oct. 12, 2023 3:14 pm
A Walker woman was arrested this week on charges that she stole about $1,250 from the Iowa Lottery while working at a Cedar Rapids Kum & Go.
Mckenna Lyn Novak, 20, is charged with Iowa Lottery violations and third-degree theft.
According to a criminal complaint, the thefts happened between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3. She stole the money by conducting fake lottery redemptions and stealing lottery tickets or money paid for lottery tickets, the complaint said.
The thefts were caught on surveillance video, and Novak admitted the thefts to the police, the complaint states.
Novak had her first appearance in court Thursday, and she was released on her own recognizance.
