Walford woman dies in crash where deer enters windshield of vehicle on Highway 30
A Walford woman died Sunday night near Tama when a deer crashed through the windshield of a vehicle she was riding in.
Donna Smith, 57, was a passenger in a 2008 Toyota Rav-4 being driven by Amy Smith, 24, of West Des Moines. The vehicle collided with the deer on Highway 30 near Q Avenue, sending the deer through the windshield.
Amy Smith was not injured, the patrol said.
The crash remains under investigation.
