Video: Iowa City firefighters respond to fire at recycling warehouse

Updated, 7:45 a.m. Saturday: The Iowa City Fire Department is investigating a warehouse fire that occurred Friday afternoon at 3 East Benton Street.
The fire occurred at a recycling warehouse used by Republic Services at the intersection of E Benton and Capitol Streets in Iowa City. When The Gazette was on the scene Friday afternoon, large quantities of smoke were visible as the Iowa City Fire Department and Coralville Fire Department were responding, along with other departments.
The fire was first reported at 4:17 p.m., and was under control in approximately two hours, according to a media release from the City of Iowa City.
The fire was contained to the warehouse, and damage estimates are not yet available, according to the release.
The Iowa City Fire Department was assisted by off duty firefighters from Iowa City, fire departments from Coralville, Hills, Riverside, Lone Tree, Swisher, Solon, Tiffin, and West Branch. The Iowa City Fire Department was also assisted by the Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Iowa City Water Department, and MidAmerican Energy Company.
