Update: Four hurt in Cedar Rapids after driver of stolen vehicle flees attempted traffic stop

According to a media release, the driver of the stolen vehicle has been identified as Kerry Robin Nading, 51, of Center Point.

Nading rear-ended a mini-van driven by Edgar Poock, 66, of Cedar Rapids, who had two passengers in the vehicle, a 9-year old female and a 15-year old female. All three had their seat belts on and were transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.

Nading suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Charges are pending, the release states.

Four people were hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries Monday after a traffic incident that started off as a disturbance report ended up with a driver in a stolen vehicle colliding with another vehicle.

According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, at 4:03 p.m. officers were dispatched after receiving a 'disturbance” report that was said to be occurring at 4115 22nd Ave SW. As officers received info about the vehicle driven by the person causing the disturbance, they then learned that the vehicle had recently been reported as stolen, according to the release.

An officer located the vehicle leaving the area on Wiley Blvd SW and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop.

The officer continued pursuit but 'terminated the attempt to stop the vehicle” at the intersection of 16th Ave and Jacolyn Dr. SW., according to the release. The driver of the stolen vehicle continued driving west on 16th Ave SW where it became involved in an accident at the intersection of 16th Ave and Stoney Point Rd. SW, according to the release.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was injured and transported to a hospital for the treatment of injuries, whereas three occupants in the second vehicle were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the release.

Police say the investigation into the incident still is ongoing.
