University Police investigating unwanted hugging and kissing incident in UIHC elevator

The University of Iowa Police are investigating an incident of sexual assault that reportedly happened Thursday morning.

According to a media release, University Police received a report of the assault from the victim at roughly 10 a.m. Thursday, The victim told them that a man had entered an elevator at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, engaged in conversation, and then began to hug and kiss the victim against their will. The man, who the victim had know prior knowledge of, then fled the elevator once the doors opened.

The suspect was described to police as a short, heavyset man with glasses who was wearing a zip-up jacket and jeans.

This incident is under investigation. The University of Iowa Department of Public Safety is asking that anyone with information about the incident to please contact them at 319-335-5022.
