U.S. Marshals arrest Cedar Rapids man considered a fugitive
Sep. 9, 2014 7:40 pm
MARION - The U.S. Marshals arrested a Cedar Rapids man on Tuesday after several months of searching.
A release from the Department of Justice says 21-year-old Andre Richardson was first considered a fugitive in early June 2014, when he cut all contact with his supervising probation officer and was no longer living at the address on file with authorities.
Richardson was apprehended without incident Tuesday in a back bedroom of a girlfriend's house in the 2400 block of Fifth Avenue in Marion.
According to Iowa Courts Online, Richardson pleaded guilty in 2012 to interference with official acts involving a dangerous weapon, a Class D felony, stemming from an incident on January 9 of that year. Cedar Rapids police said he accelerated a car at an officer and led them on a chase. As part of the deal, charges of assault with a weapon and eluding were dismissed.
