Two teenagers were transported to St. Luke's Hospital Sunday after being thrown from an out-of-control vehicle as they rode on the bumper of the vehicle, holding on to the roof.
At around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Linn County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident at 5301 Sutton Road, the Paris Bridge Natural Area.
According to a news release, the driver, identified as Braxton Parent, 16 of Hiawatha, was north bound on Sutton Road when he went around a curve too fast and lost control of the vehicle putting it in the west ditch.
Meanwhile, he was allowing Meadow Kelley, 16 of Cedar Rapids, and Patrick Drake, 15 of Hiawatha, ride on the bumper of the car hanging onto the roof. When Parent lost control, both Kelley and Drake were thrown clear of the vehicle, according to the release.
Both Kelley and Drake were transported by Center Point Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver was not injured in the accident. He was charged with a .020 Violation and Reckless Driving.
