Two men were injured Saturday as they attempted to save tools from a construction trailer that was 'fully involved in fire.”
According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, at 3:36 p.m. Saturday units were dispatched to an enclosed construction trailer behind a property at 1075 H Ave NW.
Firefighters arrived to the location to find the 'single axle construction trailer” on fire, according to the release. The fire had also extended beyond the trailer to a wood fence adjacent to the trailer, melting the nearby yardy and garby waste containers.
Two men who had been working in the trailer when the fire started received injuries as they attempted to remove tools and equipment from the burning trailer, according to the release.
Area Ambulance was on scene to assist with the treatment of the men, with one of the two being taken to the hospital for further treatment.
After the fire on the trailer and fence was extinguished firefighters were able to assess the damage. It was determined that the trailer and all equipment inside was destroyed by the fire, according to the release.
The deed holder for the property is listed as being Jeremy Hain, according to the release. The incident remains under investigation.
