Two found dead with gunshot wounds in Springville

Two people were found dead Sunday with what appear to be gunshot wounds at a home in Springville, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office was called at 3:50 p.m. Sunday to the house in the 700 block of Wild Pine Court, where Robert Lee Richmond Jr., 69, and Janice Colleen Richmond, 67, were found deceased. The Iowa State Patrol, Springville Fire Department and Anamosa Ambulance Service also responded.

The Richmonds are listed in Linn County property records as the owners of the property where they were found dead. Investigators don’t believe there is a danger to the public, a Sheriff’s Office news release states.

The two bodies were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for further investigation.
