A Tiffin man was arrested this week on charges that he stole and resold about $60,000 worth of construction equipment and medical equipment while working as a contractor at the University of Iowa Hospital North Liberty Campus.
Kevin Grimm, 56, is charged with first-degree theft and ongoing criminal conduct. According to criminal complaints, he worked for the hospital as a contractor during the construction of the North Liberty facility, which opened in April.
Between the beginning of this year and May 25, a criminal complaint says Grimm stole $60,000 worth of construction and medical equipment from the hospital, and resold it online on sites like eBay and Facebook Marketplace.
“The defendant had an excellent seller rating, engaging with others to sell hundreds of items at a discounted rate. The defendant advertised items he stole as ‘new’. The defendant sold stolen parts, materials, and equipment in bulk that were taken directly from the construction site,” the criminal complaint states.
A warrant was issued for Grimm’s arrest on May 30, and he appeared in court on Wednesday. He was released without bond.
