Jun. 26, 2023 3:23 pm
A third man has been arrested in relation to a May shooting near a parking ramp in Iowa City that left one person injured.
Narada Poole Jr., 24, of West Des Moines, is charged with control of a firearm by a felon and prohibited transfer of firearm to an unauthorized person.
At about 11:45 p.m. May 14, police responded to a shots fired call near the Clock Tower Parking Ramp in Iowa City, in the 300 block of Iowa Avenue, according to the Iowa City Police Department.
Officers found Anthony Chris Allen suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
That week, two men were arrested in relation to the shooting. Alexander O. Voudhivong, 22, of Iowa City, was charged with willful injury causing serious injury, reckless use of a firearm, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, fourth-degree criminal mischief and assault while participating in a felony.
Marquel D. Poole, 22, of West Des Moines, was charged with control of a firearm by a felon. According to court documents, Marquel Poole, who has a felony conviction from 2022, was seen on a video giving a gun to Voudhivong. Voudhivong used the gun to shoot multiple times at Allen, who was severely injured.
Police believe the gun belonged to Narada Poole, who was also present at the time of the shooting. The gun was found by police in the parking ramp, and it matched the shell casings found at the shooting scene. The complaint does not state why police believe the gun belonged to Narada Poole.
A warrant was issued for Narada Poole’s arrest June 7, and he was booked Monday into the Johnson County Jail. He was released Monday after posting $10,000 bail.
Voudhivong is being held on a $165,000 cash-only bail. He submitted a plea of not guilty June 8 and is awaiting trial. Marquel Poole was released after posting a $5,000 bail. He has not yet entered a plea.
