A teenager was injured Tuesday in an officer-involved shooting in Dubuque.
Dubuque Police officers responded to the 800 block of Alpine Street in Dubuque at 11:50 a.m. after receiving a report that a 16-year-old subject with adult warrants was in the area, according to a news release from the police department.
The teenager fled on foot when officers made contact, the release states. During the incident, the 16-year-old displayed a knife and two officers fired their weapons.
The release states that the officers rendered medical treatment to the teenager, who was transported to the hospital with injuries to his arm and shoulder.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on “critical incident leave,” the release states, as is standard department policy.
The Dubuque Police Department has requested the investigation be undertaken by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
There is no threat to the public.
