Structure fire on Center Point Rd. NE displaces occupants and several cats

A structure fire on 888 Center Point Rd. NE has caused significant damage to the two-story residential structure, but no injuries were reported.
According to a release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 888 Center Point Road NE at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, November 23.
Residents of the home noticed their smoke detectors were sounding and that there was smoke present in the house.
All occupants exited the house and called 911.
The fire department arrived and found that there was a fire in the second floor and attic space of the home.
The crew was able to bring the fire under control in under 20 minutes, and kept the fire contained to the second floor.
All occupants of the home, including several cats were safely evacuated.
No medical care was required but the occupants of the home have been displaced as there is significant fire and smoke damage on the second floor of the residence.
