South East Junior High student found with knives charged with felonies, taken into custody

A Sourth East Junior High student who was found with knives at the school earlier this month has been taken into custody and faces additional serious charges.
IC Police say officers were called Wednesday, May 8, to the junior high for the report of knives found by staff in possession of a student. At this point the juvenile was charged with Carrying Weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, and was released to their parents.
After further investigation into the incident, police in consultation with the Juvenile Court and Johnson county Attorney's Office, determined to take the juvenile into custody and add two more charges: Going Armed with Intent and Threats of Terrorism. Both new charges are felonies according to Iowa Code.
Police credited muiltiple students with alerting school officials and 'preventing a violent act from occurring.”
