Snowy, icy Halloween night

Costumes from the movie 'Frozen” may be particularly appropriate this Halloween, with snow falling Wednesday into Thursday and the temperature falling into the 20s Thursday night.

Two to 4 inches of snow are predicted, making for slick roads, low visibility and icy sidewalks, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy, wet snow also could lead to fallen branches and downed power lines.

Police also cautioned drivers and parents to be extra vigilant Halloween night as 'there will be more children on the streets and sidewalks - and those kids may be focused on gathering candy and caught up in the excitement of the holiday, rather than being careful while crossing streets.”

Police asked that drivers give themselves extra time to reach their destinations as road conditions could be hazardous.

Halloween night should bring clearer skies and below-freezing temperatures, with overnight lows of 21 degrees and 5 mph winds, according to the weather service.

Friday will warm to 40 degrees with party sunny skies and a low of 27.

The weekend is expected to be sunny with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s, a warming trend that continues into Monday.
