TIPTON — The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office removed 39 dogs from a Tipton dog shelter this week after receiving complaints of animal neglect at the facility.
Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant Wednesday at Just Dog Rescue, at 1707 Highway 130 east of Tipton, where they found the dogs living in unsafe conditions, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The dogs have seen a veterinarian and are now under the care of the sheriff’s office.
No criminal charges have yet been filed, but the matter remains under investigation, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office was assisted in the warrant by the Cedar County Attorney’s Office, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the Tipton Veterinary Clinic, Cedar County Emergency Management and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
