Police report child abduction attempt in NE Cedar Rapids Sunday
CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids police are investigating an attempted child abduction incident that happened Sunday.
At about 4 p.m., officers responded to information about a possible abduction attempt in the 500 block of Sheffield Drive NE, according to a news release.
Police learned that a man wearing a hooded shirt and mask tried to grab a 2-year-old child off the sidewalk. A nearby family member stopped the attempted abduction and saw the man get into a white car before driving away, the release said.
