Police: Juvenile seriously injured in Cedar Rapids shooting, 4 detained

CEDAR RAPIDS - A juvenile was seriously injured when he was struck by gunfire Thursday afternoon.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department said officers were called to the area of A Avenue NW and 13th Street NW at about 12:40 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a male juvenile had been struck by gunfire.
The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said his condition is serious.
After the shooting, public safety spokesperson Greg Buelow said, an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle was put out to officers. The police department said officers located the 'suspect vehicle” at 12:48 p.m. in the 1300 block of F Avenue NE and made a traffic stop. Four individual are currently being detained and interviewed by investigators, police said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said the shooting appears to be a 'targeted incident.”
