CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids police were called to Mount Mercy University early Wednesday about a person inside Andreas House, a student residence building, who may have been armed, according to a Facebook post from Mount Mercy.
Police were notified at 4:20 a.m., according to the Facebook post.
Mount Mercy increased campus patrols Wednesday, though police believe there is no an ongoing threat, the post states.
Police said they are working closely with Mount Mercy Public Safety staff to review video surveillance and identify the individual.
No students or staff were in direct contact with the individual believed to have been armed, according to Cedar Rapids police.
This investigation comes almost a week after a Mount Mercy student was injured when he was caught in the crossfire of a shooting near campus.
The student, a cross-country athlete, was on his way to practice when he was shot. His injuries were not life-threatening. No arrests have been made in that incident.
