Police investigate suspicious package at Ladd Library, give all clear

Oct. 24, 2018 3:16 pm
Cedar Rapids police investigated reports of a suspicious package Wednesday afternoon at the Ladd Library campus on Williams Boulevard SW, and determined the package was not a threat.
Public Safety spokesperson Greg Buelow said the police department received the report at about 1 p.m. and Hazardous Devices Unit was deployed.
The package was X-rayed and determined to 'a pop-up garage tent that likely fell off a vehicle,” Buelow said.
The tent, he said, was 'rolled up and had zippers and cords around it,” which likely triggered the reporting party's suspicions.
Buelow said the Hazardous Devices Unit gave the all-clear at about 1:45 p.m.
