A Vinton man was arrested Monday evening after police found drugs and cash inside his house.
Cory L. Kintzel, 37, faces several charges after police say they found more than one-half pound of marijuana and about $7,800 cash at 1009 First Ave. in Vinton. Officers went there attempting to find Kintzel after his car had been destroyed by fire earlier that evening. Deputies found the car fully engulfed in flames after an accident in the 6100 block of 32nd Avenue, a few miles north of Shellsburg.
Kintzel was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating while intoxicated and a drug tax stamp violation.
According to online court records, Kintzel has three previous drunken driving charges from the 1990s and was convicted of drug possession in 2004.
Kintzel remained at the Benton County Jail on Tuesday.
