Police: 4-year-old boy shot, seriously injured in southwest Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - A 4-year-old boy was shot and seriously injured in southwest Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, police said.
Police were called to the home at 208 Seventh St. SW at 2:42 p.m. where they found the child, who was not identified in the Cedar Rapids police news release.
No details were released, but police said the shooting appears to be unintentional.
The child was taken to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital and then transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
