Plea reveals timeline of the investigation into Iowa Barnstormers AAU coach convicted of recording players nude

The plea agreement reveals timeline of the investigation into former Iowa Barnstormers AAU coach Greg Stephen. A longer story will be posted later today:

' Feb. 21, 2018: Authorities find videos on a USB device taken from Stephen's hidden camera that he used to record several naked players in a hotel room in Lombard, Ill., and Ankeny. Stephen placed the recording device in their hotel bathrooms, pointed toward the shower. None of the boys knew they were being recorded.

' Authorities searched Stephen's two residences. At his Monticello home, the seize 11 electronic devices from Stephen's office. They also recover three covert recording devices similar in style to the one used in Illinois and Ankeny, along with a recording device designed to look like a mountable bath towel hook.

' At the Delhi home, they seize 22 electronic devices , including a covert recording device that looked like a smoke detector. The mounting for the device was found directly above the toilet.

' Authorities also discovered Stephen had access to minors from ages 9 to 17 as far back as 2008 through basketball programs of Barnstormers, Mavericks and other teams. Through his coaching or administrative duties, Stephen also had personal information on many of the minors and some of their friends.

' He also traveled to various sporting events with the boys and many times had them stay in hotels rooms with him and sleep in the same bed.

' One of the recovered hard drives shows more than 400 electronic file folders with titles of the different minors' names, with about 400 containing sexually explicit conduct.

' Victims were basketball players and their friends from as recently as 2018, and former basketball players and their friends from past seasons going back several years. They also included minors involved in other sports.

' A folder was recovered which contained teen girls engaged in sexually explicit conduct, which Stephen used to set up Facebook and Snapchat profiles to contact teen boys.

' Once contact was made, Stephen used the female personas to entice the boys into providing him with sexually explicit images.
