Overnight shooting reported in northwest Cedar Rapids

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting.
According to police, officers responded to a call of shots fired at 5620 Johnson Ave. NW at 1:11 a.m. Friday. Police said they found evidence of shots fired.
Thirteen minutes later, officers responding to the shooting pulled over a car in the 2700 block of Johnson Avenue NW. Inside the vehicle was a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. The man was transported to the hospital where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made in the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME or send a text to CRIMES, type 5227 and the tip in the message. Information leading to an award may be eligible for a reward.
