One woman pronounced dead at early-morning Cedar Rapids garage fire

The Cedar Rapids Police Department and Fire Department were dispatched to an active fire in a garage located at 1814 I St. SW in Cedar Rapids around 7:30 a.m. this morning.
According to a release issued by the CRPD, an adult female was found on location with serious injuries. Emergency medical care was rendered to the individual, but she was pronounced deceased a short time later at a hospital.
The incident report details that neighbors heard a 'loud boom” and saw that the detached two-stall garage was fully engulfed in flames.
Investigators are considering the death to be suspicious at this time, and are conducting an ongoing investigation.
The CRPD is currently not releasing the name of the victim until her family members can be notified.
The State Medical Examiner's Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
There is no additional information at this time regarding the cause of the fire, and the incident remains under investigation.
