One person injured in southwest side shooting incident
A 21-year-old man was shot early Wednesday during a home invasion in Cedar Rapids, police say.
According to a news release, around 1 a.m. officers responded to 819 Fifth Avenue SW for a report of a person with a gunshot wound.
Cedar Rapids Police Spokesman Greg Buelow said Wednesday in an email to the Gazette that the man was shot in the leg, an injury that wasn't life threatening. Buelow said investigators do not believe the incident was random, and the man was shot during a home invasion.
The man was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital.
The case is under investigation, and no further information has been released.
