Driver was shot while police were trying to stop pursuit

CEDAR RAPIDS — The driver of a vehicle was injured Tuesday evening in an officer-involved shooting following a pursuit.
Cedar Rapids Police were attempting to stop a car around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids, according to a social media post published by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
The vehicle continued and led officers on a pursuit that ended in the 1200 block of 15th Street SE, police said.
Shots were fired by officers during the stop of the chase, and the driver was injured. Additional details were not yet available Tuesday evening.
The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. No information about the person’s condition has been released.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation has been notified to continue the investigation.
